International Women's Day 2015

As most of you will know, this is International Women's Day today. If you didn't, well... you do now.

I've thought about what to write for this post for most of the day and I've come to the conclusion that quite a few people think that feminism is a bad word. It's really not.

Feminism - at least to me - is the empowerment to do whatever you want to do. If you want to be a stay-at-home mum, raising you kids... well, be a stay-at-home mum, raising your kids. If you want to be a high-flying career mum? Well, you know what? That's ok too.

Girls, please don't be afraid to do what YOU want to do; do what makes YOU happy. Don't let anyone else tell you differently. And above all, if you are to take one thing from this post: please - please - don't feel pressured into doing anything that you don't want to do.

As some light bedtime reading, I purchased this book for my kindle:

It's written by the creators behind juicy couture and details how they came to start what would eventually become a billion-dollar business with just $200.

If that's not appropriate for the day to celebrate women, then I don't know what is!

Available from Amazon, for all different pricepoints - kindle version circa £9.99.
