A big part of looking as best as you can (if that's your bag) is by taking care of yourself as much a you can. For many people, this involves painting your nails, having your hair cut and coloured (professionally) and having a wax. However, it also crucially involves caring for your skin, looking after your hair, taking exercise and eating healthily - in other words, starting from the bottom up! Making sure that you have the absolute best foundation that you can possibly have, will make sure that you look your best at all times. It'll also make you happy and smiley - which, let's face it, is one of the prettiest things that we can do.
With this in mind, I do love to have a sort of Sunday Spa Day (or hour, or however much time I can manage to snaffle!). This means (for me) sticking on some chill-out music, running the bath with some delicious bubbles/oils and massaging the ends my hair with my hair mask. I'll light some candles for atmosphere and do a little facial while I'm relaxing in the bath. This will include cleansing, exfoliating and then a mask of some sort, depending on what my skin needs. When I come out, I wrap my hair in a towel and slather on some body lotion/butter then get into some nice jammies (or a dressing gown if I really want to up the "spa" ante) and cashmere socks. Every other week or so, I'll also include a mini pedicure.
If you're using oils in the bath, lavender is probably the most well known for it's relaxing properties. However if you, like me, aren't mad keen on lavender then there are loads of other oils you can use. These include: chamomile, bergamot, cedarwood, frankincense, geranium, jasmine, rose, sandalwood and ylang ylang. I personally find that bubbles make the bath for me but sometimes, only an oil will do; so if you want to relax like me, my most favourite blend is a few drops each of frankincense, geranium and bergamot.
These are a few of the products that I'm going to use later:
|Philip Kingsley Elasticiser, Korres Showergel, Origins Never a Dull Moment, OGX Kukui Oil Shampoo and Conditioner and Sanctuary Ultimate Salt Scrub.|
The Sanctuary salt scrub is, hands down, THE BEST I've ever used. It is amazing!
And finally: Sunday breakfast. Yes, really.
|Pudding for breakfast? Yes, please!|
